This is just a note to say,
That while you were away,
Leos crept across your lawn,
And planted pinwheels before dawn.

In this presentation, youth from both sides of the border come together in a show of teamwork to retell the Liberian tale from the book "Head, Body, Legs" using a giant puppet they created. The fable takes the audience on a journey as they discover the benefits of collaboration.  We have been in communication with the Liberian storyteller Won-Ldy Paye, the Author Margaret H. Lippert, and the Illustrator Julie Paschkis to give credit to their work and share how they have inspired this retelling by our Leos. They have offered their support and encouragement to our Leos.

OVERVIEW - Project Proposal

In support of Skagit County Proclamations to be inclusive of blind and low vision communities and to uphold Lions Club International global causes, the Skagit Valley Leo Club created a long-term goal of developing an accessible trail that fosters independence, equality, and opportunity to blind and low vision communities while promoting an inclusive intergenerational park experience. Leos will partner with city and county ordinances, clubs, artists, organizations, individuals, and others in the redevelopment of the Burlington Lions Highway 20 Roadside Park. This project timing aligns with the Parks, Recreation, and Outside Spaces (PROS) planning for Burlington’s six-year and twenty-year goals currently under development. The park experience will feature interactive exhibits that highlight history, life, land, and waters along the Skagit County portion of the North Cascades Highway. The Burlington Lions Park will be transformed into a museum without walls entertaining intergenerational visits by locals, guests, and travelers. The free and open access experience will further the history, tourism, and legacy of the North Cascades Highway.
